Book Review – Tale of Lanka by Sai Sree Harsha Aggaraju

Where mythology meets cosmic mystery, a new legend begins.

"Tale of Lanka" is an ambitious and refreshing retelling that takes us back to 7980 BCE, long before the Lanka we know from our epics took shape. The story opens with a dramatic celestial event—a meteor crashing into a quiet village. But this is no ordinary meteor; it carries an otherworldly power with the ability to heal, setting the stage for a gripping blend of science and mythology.

From that moment onward, the narrative expands beautifully. The author transports us to Alakapuri, the thriving capital, where the miracle soon captures the attention of powerful figures like Kubera, Agastya, and even Brahma. Each of them is drawn to this mysterious force, driven by their own visions, fears, and ambitions.

And at the heart of it all stands a young warrior—Ravana. Not the king or antagonist we know from legends, but a determined youth whose destiny becomes intertwined with this celestial phenomenon. Watching his journey take shape from the very beginning adds a fresh emotional layer to a story we’ve only known from one angle.

What truly elevates this book is the immersive writing. The world-building is so vivid and realistic that you feel transported to ancient Lanka. The author’s descriptions—of landscapes, city life, rituals, and warfare—are rich, detailed, and almost cinematic. It feels like stepping into a long-lost era where science, spirituality, and power coexist.

This book is Part 1 of the series, and it sets a strong foundation for what promises to be an epic saga. The pacing is smooth, the plot is intriguing, and the blend of mythology with scientific elements feels original and well thought out.

I’m absolutely hooked on this title.
